I cringe when sports folk like John Inverdale talk about things being 'key' to a match or whatever. I cringe when people refer to dancing as 'throwing some shapes'. What modern phrases make you cringe?

"Simples" and "end of" - the latter representing everything I despise about opinionated dictatorial types.
Carrust, I too hate "absolutely" instead of yes. I was listening to a short radio interview which was about 90 seconds and in that time counted 17 absolutely's
I don't know why I am moaning, I probably use just as many stupid phrases as other people. Here's one - people in glasshouses shouldn't throw stones.

Not a cringeworthy phrase as such,but heard this recently :-
In the first leg of the Champions League match between Real Madrid and Barcelona,Pepe was sent off.During the second half,when Barcelona began to dominate against 10 men,the commentator said "The missing player is now clearly visible" Definitely one for future Colemanballs !
"Bunch" as in 'of friends','ideas',etc
'devastated' (OK, so it's not a phrase).

'Not on my watch' is something I'm used to as my husband often uses it having been in the navy. It does grate when used by someone who has never taken the queen's shilling

the one that really 'gets my goat' (did you see what I did there?) is 'it wasn't my fault, it was his/hers, now where can I claim?
