as a woman in my late sixties i find i have got a lot of fine fuzzy hair on the side of my face, it may always have been there but is now more noticeable, if i remove it will it grow stronger or darker? if for example i remove it then don't do it again for while, i'm afraid to try without asking someone who knows.

Were you blond when you were younger? Apparently blonds tend to have more downey, fair hair on their faces when they get older. The idea that hair will grow darker/stronger after removal is a myth.
Get it waxed.
I would hate to see underneath.

Smoooooth for me.
DT...seriously!!!
Underneath what DT (or shouldn`t I ask)?
??
laser...or some other treatment like that would be recommended in my book.

inc the "underneath" - 30, 50, 70 - it's all the same but far more preferential, well to me anyway..... and nothing wrong with that.
Underneath what?
Have your face threaded (same as waxed) it won't grow back any darker or thicker and eventually it weakens the hair follicle.
Laser doesn't work on light hair, only dark hair on pale skin. It would be a very expensive and pointless exercise

Things like waxing and plucking can encourage more growth. If its just fine downy hair then a simple hair removal cream should work well.
Oh, if you do use a cream make sure you do a patch test on somewhere like your inner elbow or wrist first. Some people don't react well to the creams and you wouldn't want a big red rash all over your face.
wouldnt threading be quite an exhaustive process? fine fuzzy hair is extremely common as we get older, its quite dense and fine.
I bought a gadget from Kleenezee to try. About 8ins long, very tightly coiled spring with pink handles. Can`t remember the name but quick and effective if a bit stingy.

thanks everyone, my hair was very dark when young but i have very pale skin, i think i might 'pluck' up courage and use hair removing cream, i think i'm nervous about it because we were always told when young that it would grow back a lot stronger, our Mum would not let my sister remove three long dark hairs that grew under her chin as she was convinced that for each one removed three more would grow, silly i know but when something is drilled into you when young it sticks in your mind, but we were allowed to bleach hair on arms and legs with peroxide, so they did'nt show so much, sounds horrible now.
cecil - me too, fine fluffy stuff. I just shave it when it gets annoying, every couple of months - it doesn't grow back any stronger. I have always been dark-haired but this is fine and not really noticeable.
Be careful with hair removal cream and do a patch test first somewhere no noticable.

I tried it once back in uni and it took a chunk out of my leg. Tried it again earlier in the week (figured things might have got better as over 10 years since the last attempt) as I wanted to target some facial hair (joys of PCOS!).

I tried a test the night before which was ok, didn't leave it on too long and it didn't shift anything. Tried the night after properly and it got rid of some of the hair but went really red and felt like it was burning and looked all lumpy. Stuck lots of cooling gel, aloe vera, on then aqueous cream and had an attractive (not!) red chin for the next few days which then came up in lots of little red scab type things and is still irritated and quite dry and flakey now. Parts on my hands have also gone all dry and flakey, maybe from putting it on.

Lots of people seem to use it fine but worth a cautious test first, just in case!

thanks Boxtops, thats what i like, someone who's got the same problem telling me what they tried, and yes Jenna thats something i am afraid of as my skin seems very weak and thin nowadays, maybe i will reconsider and just get a 'lady shave' if they still sell them, after all I'm no Joan Collins, and cant afford to spend lots spend lots, thanks again everyone.
