I have noticed with the passing of years that quite alot of people now say 'we was' instead of 'we were' and 'I wish I was....' instead of 'I wish I were....'
This is an example of how bad grammar has sneaked into our language and is normal now for some people.
I have just been reading through Trip Advisor and otherwise perfect posts are spoilt with this incorrect use of the verb 'to be.'
The other thing I have noticed is that the perpetrators tend to be from southern parts.
Why has this happened?

"Did you honestly "laugh out loud" at that? How I envy you! How wonderful it must be to be so easily amused..." How spectacularly condescending.

*even turning over.

Predictive text, not bad grammar, Mark...
Bummer...

Besides that, are you looking forward to work?
Not today I'm not. I've got training this morning. It's mandatory but you don't get paid for it.. Still, once training is complete, I will have full system access.
Bummer being the operative word, btw. The general area of my right buttock is the afflicted region...
lol...sorry.

I have a complete and utter *** living with me at the moment. Even hearing him breath makes me want too punch him...grrrr
Can you not evict the object of your annoyance?
Yeah...but I'm a softy at heart :-( He has no one else...

I mentioned the bastardisation,if there is such a word, of the English language, some time ago and was told I was out of date.
NoM....email.
Did you get my reply? I am not actually logged into that account atm. Have you got my other yahoo address with my first name, middle initial and last name?
It used to really irritate me when Frank Muir had that tv programme called 'Its alright on the night'. What sort of word is alright???
-- answer removed --
That reminds me of when I was a small boy. I was standing outside a toyshop when a woman said to her son 'It's no good looking cause you aint getting nothing'. I thought about this for some time and concluded that if he wasn't getting nothing then he must be getting something. I don't think he did though.
It wasn't Frank Muir, it was his writing partner, Denis Norden. And the programme wasn't called "It's alright on the night", it was "It'll be alright on the night".
Apart from that, you made a good point.
"I say 'was' instead of 'were'. It's nothing to do with grammar, it's just how I speak."
It's everything to do with grammar. You may not mind that you do not speak in what is now considered grammatically correct English, but it's still about grammar.
"Google picked up 57,800,000 results for "alot", even though the word does not exist. What a useless Search Engine, it has made up matches were none exist."
It is ironic that, in posting a reply on the subject of grammar, you type 'were' instead of 'where'. This may be merely a typo, but it's a common error. Also 'none' is singular, so it should be "where none exists."
At least you said sneaked and not the awful Americanism snuck.
//Google picked up 57,800,000 results for "alot", even though the word does not exist. What a useless Search Engine, it has made up matches were none exist.//
methyl
......matches WHERE none exist.
Chaucer must be turning in his grave at how badly english grammar has detriorated since his day.
Misuse of convince/persuade really annoys me, as does 'whenever ' for 'when'.
