Internet Explorer 8 Virus? Please Help...
Hi I am desperate to get my emails off and my computer has been "frozen" since yesterday 9am, I can't access the internet (Outlook Express or Google) through IE8 which is my usual way. I'm with Talktalk and the internet connection is fine. I'm not very experienced with the internet but have run every check I know of, found a few infections which it fixed, did system restore to lat Friday, got it back for a few mins but the same happened again. I can get into AB via Google Chrome but how do I access my emails through Chrome please. Can anyone suggest any free clean up programs to deal just with Outlook Express (I will need very simple instructions please!) I have done CCleaner, Advanced Systemcare, IObit, and tried to clear temporary files but this carried on deleting for hours so I cancelled the operation - (hope it hasn't deleted all my emails!) I think I need your expert help please techies ................ many thanks!

You can access your emails from any computer, anywhere in the world, using any browser anyone has ever heard of.
Number 1...use Chrome for EVERYTHING ? Its not perfect but its a whole lot better than Internet Explorer, whatever version you have. Chrome takes a while to get used to but its worth it in the end. IE sucks, as our American cousins would say. For AB Chrome is really good and almost trouble-free.
Number 2...just go to the website of your email server directly. ie type in the address ( www. etc) into the command line at the top of the page and Chrome will take you straight there. You will need your email address and your password. A lot of people use Hotmail these days but any other email server will work just the same.
I have to shoot out now but I am sure there are other AB'ers that can provide help if needed.
AB has never let me down !

Thanks mikey. My brother has taken my computer to run deep virus scans on it as I really do want to keep IE if I can, Google Chrome is ok but has several features which I don't like and are quite annoying. He has lent me his state-of- the- art laptop so am having to get used to that! Can't get used to the slider bar so have plugged my trusty old mouse in ;)

Thank you so much for your help methyl, I really appreciate it and have passed your reply on to my brother who is trying to help me too.
Further info for you methyl - I use Windows XP and the first I knew there was something wrong was yesterday morning when I went to my In Box to read my emails and a message appeared that said something like Outlook Express was not closed down correctly and to click here to read last message. When I clicked that link, all I got was the "Eggtimer" and the screen froze up. I had to do Ctrl, Alt Del to come out of Outlook Express but I could not get into Google either. All I could do was get into all my clean up progs (described above) which had been saved to my Desktop, but despite running them all, nothing could be found. I tried FixVundo today to get rid of possible Trojans but none found. Thanks.
