Our "Nan" used to use this expression quite often ,we have no idea where it originated ,any ideas please .Nan would have been 92 this year.

A poult or pullet is basically a young bird such as a chicken... hence, poultry. However, in the 18th century and in colloquial or dialect use since, these words have also been used to mean a child or young person. It, therefore, seems quite likely to me that your grandmother was using a variant of that idea and simply saying, "You silly kids!"
