PC Lighting

I find the lighting arrangement around my PC quite irritating. Natural light and streetlights shine through leaded windows casting shadows over the monitor and I have two internal lights that just leave white spots on the screen, obscuring what I'm trying to look at. I'm considering buying a table lamp or standing lamp to improve the lighting. I'm interested to know if any particular light or arrangement works better than others. I've noticed that some bulbs seem to give "sharper" light than others (e.g.some eco lights give a crappy soft light, others a nice sharp light - each ok for different purposes). Any advice gratefully received.

I use a table lamp (12v) that points upwards into a corner to diffuse the light.
I find it loads better that ceiling light and natural light.
Also read somewere that lighting behind the monitor is good for your eyes.

Try looking through the art department at your nearest department store for a true light. It is meant to be placed/used in front or/and above your head. This light is used by artist all the time and does not reflect off of objects easily. That is the quality of the light and why it is called true light.
