naomi, I think she probably does realise what she's said. She wants Ed to be weak so that she is the only chance he has for power, then the sweetness will turn to steel. She'll use him and then abandon him because she needs to be seen as strong and independent for her own election in a couple of years - or at least that's my reading. It may all go wrong and another election have to be called, but Miss Goody 2-handbags (in her electorate's view) will have shown up as feisty and powerful. A very clever and dangerous woman IMO.
