Alex Salmond could be right here. If Britain as a nation, votes to come out of the EU in any future referendum, he is saying that it would precipitate a second Scottish Independence referendum.

Considering the present huge popularity of the SNP, it would seem to me that the answer would be a resounding YES the next time !

Zacs....I am no huge fan of Salmond but there is a lot in what he says.

The SNP do not want to come out of the EU, and they may have no choice but to become independent, if that is the only way they can stay in. dave fought very hard last year, to persuade the Scots to vote NO, but he may get what he doesn't want, due to the pressure on him, over the EU, by UKIP and the right wing of his own Party.

I voted No in September so nothing Nicola Sturgeon says or does will change my mind. Although I don't think a second one will produce a 55.3% to 44.7% victory

The Scottish people have created themselves a dilemma. They voted to stay part of the UK but then they voted in an anti UK but Pro EU party. Go figure.

I also voted no, mainly because I stupidly believed Cameron, Brown, Darling and all the other proven liars over The Vow.

Right there is the reason that next time, the UK may find itself disunited

Depends on whether or not Scotland votes to stay in the EU after all. Everyone (the SNP) are saying that they will, but it's hardly a certainty.

this argument has been done to death. they can't "stay in" as an independent nation, they would have to apply as a new member.

I suspect a fair few of them will feel like douglas, that they were taken for suckers by Westminster, and will change their vote. I should be most interested to see if it happens.

I believe the oirish were "threatened" at the time by the eussr with various "sanctions" to make sure they came up with the yes vote that was wanted..
