Are Vets To Eager To Euthanise?
8 Answers
My cat had to be put down due to Leptospirosis.I bought him to vet rather late , but the vet said even early intervention would not have saved him.
Now , few months back a vet suggested to my friend that she should put down her poorly parrott-and yet the vet suggested this without any proper diagnosis or tests. My friend objected and paid for tests - and the Parrott is fine 6 months on.Why would vet want to euthanise -when they could have made money from tests first anyway ?
Same friend , refused to have her cat put down on vets advice -it lived actively for another 3 years
So are vets to eager to euthanise ?

They seem to be in a 'can't win' situations - sometimes their diagnosis is just a (very) educated guess. I would much rather have an animal put to sleep before necessary that make it suffer for longer.
Leptospirosis is a nasty disease but I have no first hand knowledge of it.

I/we've had to have two much loved pets PTS this year, in both cases there was an illness involved, the Vet kept us up to speed on what was going on and as experienced owners we made the final choice although we know we would have been advised had we let things go on for too long.
So no, I don't think so!
