the old saying "it is better to have loved and lost than never loved at all"
how many think this is true, personally i think its wrong as if youve never loved you would'nt be very heartboken and depressed (not me) but i know many who have been)to me "what youve never had you never miss" is better..............
I have had my heart broken twice, and if I had my time to come again, I would do the same again, because the love was worth the loss.
Obviously, if you don't know what love is, you have no concept of what it is to lose it, but I think you need to experience the worst of life to know how the best of life feels.
I think that I agree with Andy, the "highs" and "lows" of being in love and the "white knuckle rides" of excitement, passion and complete satisfaction are emotions not to be missed.
I wouldn't like to go through life on a plateau of emotional mediocrity.
Much better to have known the feeling of being loved and cherished, of course the loss when it ends however that end comes is awful but the experience and treasured times make it all worthwhile.
This Garth Brooks song sums up perfectly the pain of my loss.
Looking back
On the memory of
The dance we shared
'Neath the stars above
For a moment
All the world was right
How could I have known
That you'd ever say goodbye
And now
I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end
The way it all would go
Our lives
Are better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I'd have had to miss
The dance
