'Morning

Can I get some help with 'parsing' this clue :-

5a - Harvard graduate shows hypocrisy on ship with Scotsman (12) Cantabrigian

I understand hypocrisy=cant, ship=brig, scotsman=ian BUT what's that got to do with Harvard?

Cantabrigian is to do with Cambridge or Cambridge University, and that Harvard is a University but is it not superfluous to the clue?
