Lovely moment from Upstart Crow (Shakespeare based comedy) this week (BBC) about being "politically correct".
Shakespeare has written Midsummers Night's Dream but the young girl that lives in his London house complains that it is all based around "fairies and pixies".
She does not think it is right, showing giving someone a potion to make them love you - "giving a drug to someone to make them have intimate relations with you is sexual assault Mr Shakespeare" she says.
Shakespeare says to her "I would have thought that you of all people would agree it’s high time members of the FSNEP community were properly represented in popular drama projects”
What is FSNEP she asks?
"Why it is fairies, sprites, nymphs, elves and pixies" he replies.
Lovely twist, bringing 21st century attitudes to Shakespeare's plays.
