Why would anyone want to buy ready made meat balls from the supermarket?
For 12 balls in a pack, about the size of a ping pong ball they are £3.50, the pack price shows that you are paying £6.70 per kilo.

If you buy half a kilo of beef mince ( £3.50 per kilo) that would be £1.75 and would be plenty to make 12 meat balls, if not more.

Now all you have to do is take a pinch of the meat and roll it up in your hand, it only takes seconds to make, so lets say each one you make takes 4/5 seconds, lets say 5 seconds and you make 15, that's only 1min 15 seconds to make the lot.

Your saving nearly 75% in cash terms if you don't buy them ready made at £6.70 per kilo. You could really treat yourself and buy a small tub of spice to your taste for about a £1 to sprinkle in with the mince, you would use very little spice and have plenty left over for the next time you make them.

So is it not a waste of money, and crazy to buy them already made?

What tie are you dishing up?
do you ever get tired of being a sanctimonious chef?
Life's too short and they don't cost anything like £3.50 for 12 in Asda.
^ 'time'
Actually, where can you get good quality minced beef @ £3.50 a Kilo?
Oh Gawd he's off again !! By the way bloke, I had absolutely delicious chees on toast this weekend made from the ready grated cheese I bought from Asda ..
Some people can't be arsed for whatever reason- they have no time, they are elderly or infirm and are tired and can't stand in kitchen to make them, they're rubbish at cooking, they don't enjoy cooking, people have little children they want to do more fun things with (although I like cooking with littlies)- the reasons are endless- and it's their money so what does it matter?
You sound a bit like me with ready made curtains, Nicebloke..... :-)

I can't imagine why anyone would buy curtains when you can buy wonderful fabric and with the right sewing machine make perfect curtains that not only fit exactly but that nobody else will have......x
I'll happily make meatballs...the size of a tennis ball ;)...but I'd never do curtains. That would be a disaster.
Gness the 'Prick n Ping' Queen ;-)
rocky mountain oysters ?
Make my own curtains ??? I have much better things to do !
If I made my own curtains, I could absolutely guarantee nobody else would have anything like them. I suppose you could fill the gaps in with newspaper?
And they're vile, the meatballs. I always make my own and they're golf ball size.
I was slightly tongue in cheek....but only slightly. I'm a bit anal about curtains.....they have to be exactly the right size with cartridge headings sitting evenly.....

I enjoy sewing......making meatballs? That would take up precious crafting time....

No longer prick and pinging, Mamya....Dave has brought his all singing/dancing microwave......he cooks....I make things.... :-)
Perfect compromise.x
Same argument for sausages, burghers etc?
Why stop there why not mince your own mince and raise your own cattle, or here’s a novel idea why not stop telling people they are wasting there hard earned money and time doing things you disagree with!
