It was very hard hitting , I feel so much respect for those who bared all to bring Cancer to our attention ,especially the tiny Layla Morse who showed us all her mastectomy scar

Bobbi, yes I did. Both programmes were quite hard-hitting and I appreciated the direction in which the introductions and dance went. It was thoughtful and, imo, removed the possible "voyeurism" affect from the evening's powerful message. The celebs were good to take part and even those who looked like they might back out at any part of the rehearsals did...

Laila was great and it was sad that she hurt her ankle at the last minute.

But while it was great and that Bobbs - there wasn't much showing of their scars (too embarrassing) for them but they proved a point.

I did hear the last time the ladies did the Full Monty when Coleen Nolan (whom I like) was performing - but I heard that all the ladies were paid £10,000 for entering. That took the taste away for me. I'm sure everybody on last night were paid - it wasn't voluntary.

Yes I read that last time too but whatever ,for me, the message got to me JJ x
well I won't worry as I donate every month to Cancer anyway and also for your interest re the homeless - left quite a nice bag of goodies last night into Sainsburys food bank.

But I had set the bag down to change trolleys in Sainsburys as the one I was using was bloody useless and walked away without the goodies bag - luckily a young lad called me back.

I think we all have to try and help the helpless at Christmas. Sister has given me a few hundred and wants me to give it to Sally Army but I can't seem to access where I can get a receipt (for her).

Yes I do as well and have done for every month for years and will continue doing do, right now ( through a friend who works tirelessly for the homeless) I’m helping a lady with six children who’s finding it hard, I have no idea who she is , nor should I but I’ll provide for her and her children a starter,a main course , a dessert and sweets for her children come Christmas Day ,I wish I could do more
well Bobbs at least you are trying and that's great!
Question Author
Yes , I suppose so but I so wish any government will make our homeless and needy a priority JJ
well Bobbs - I do know a few guys who are homeless and are on the streets - one gorgeous fella who the dad threw out about a year ago - he was performing badly ie drink and drugs and so he ended up in a hostel. He told me it was the worst experience of his life - they are all wondering about night - stealing, out of it, knives etc etc.

Another lad ended up being in another hostel and whilst the lads are just left to their own devices, they have to be responsible to clean toilets, kitchens, make food. This lad ended up going out and buying cleaning stuff to clean the toilets and kitchen and of course he has got out too. At the mo I don't know where he is - whether he went back to the wife and kids - I honestly don't know.

So the homeless you see on the streets - knowing all that - literally don't want to go into the hostels for those reasons.

Thank God the first lad has turned his life around and was back with dad for 6 months but was talking to him last Sunday and he is in a wee flat now and he loves it. Having said that he was coming across extremely anxious - but weaning off those substances will take time. What a hunk of a guy.

JJ, there’s many reasons why people dnd up on the streets, too many too say , some it’s their only way of life , others , life has dealt them a bad deal, but especially this time of year I look at how fortunate I am and how I need to try to help, no matter how little
I will throw this in - my sister's lovely friend a guy - about two years ago - he and the wife had two children (the only children they had), a boy and a girl, 30 and 32.

Girl was in a little place of her own and dad hadn't heard of her for a day or two. Couldn't get into her place and he borrowed a ladder and found her hanging - over rejection by a boy. Twelve weeks later the other lad who had been staying in a hostel through drink - fell off the bed - hit his head and died. Lost his only two children within 12 weeks. Unbelievable!

Gosh, that is so sad JJ
very Bobbs - and the parents couldn't be nicer people either.

I’ve already sorted a traditional menu out Jno, but thank you
Did you look at it Bobbi?....eeeek! I'm glad my mum never did anything like that. In fact, I've never heard of it.
Question Author
Yes I did Pasta with a cynical eye , haha
you certainly won't see anything like that on my table, Pasta, not even after the watershed.
"A cynical eye" Bobbi? Why is that...?
Amazed to discover that Laila is the sister of Gary Oldman
theblip - that's right two of them have been brother and sister all their lives LOL

The celebs were good to take part and even those who looked like they might back out at any part of the rehearsals did extremely well.

We will never know how many people may have been helped from the 2 shows, but 1 would be enough to have made it worthwhile.
