The lunchtime weather person issued a yellow snow warning, this evening they were careful to say it the other way round! A yellow warning for snow.

Red snow is bad!  In 2001 I was out for a morning walk with my dog and after he had a pee there was red snow.  He was 14 and a big dog, he lived for a couple more months.

Yellow snow isn't so bad in comparison.😁

Red snow actually exists in nature. It is a big concern for scientists. It's caused by a bacteria called Chlamydomonas Nivalis and was first discoverd in 1818 by Captain Ross in the quest to find the North West Passage. It took 50 years to identify it. It lives in the ice and meltwater and causes the ice to melt because it's presence absorbs heat from the Sun. It is present in 50% of the worlds' ice and will eventually cause it all to melt. At the moment, no-one knows how to stop it. More here:
