Me and the missus watched this last night and couldn't really figure out what was going on.

This is my take on it:

Gemma was once a bloke who decided he wanted to be a woman .... but if he had been born a woman, he would have been a lesbian as he (now she) still fancies women.  I'm not sure if she has had the op or not, or whether she just identifies as a female .... either way, she doesn't make a convincing female.

As for Gemma's wife ..... beauty is in the eye of the beholder  :)
