I don't get your joke yet I've always considered myself to be intelligent - maybe it just depends on your sense of humour style. (What is the joke, by the way?)
Intelligence is a notoriously difficult concept to pin down, but maybe originating humour does demonstrate a branch of intelligence. Remembering and repeating them merely demonstrates a good memory, and an urge to be liked, which is probably not the same thing. It's an interesting idea - I'd be keen to see what everyone else thinks.
