You're right, Stephanie. I seem to remember that it was called the "pack howl" and went like this (all pretty much shouted):
(Cubs) AKELA, WE'LL DO OUR BEST!
(Akela) DYB, DYB, DYB!
(Cubs) WE'LL DOB, DOB, DOB!
Akela is the customary name that is (or at least was) given to the adult cub leader, after the lone wolf in Kipling's "Jungle Book".
