is the book "flowers in the attic" supposedly based on a true story? - what is the significance/meaning of the the title? , and are there any pictures of the author v c andrews? thx

It's a long time since I read the book, so I can't remember whether there's a visual reference to flowers, but basically it's that these children, in the prime of their childhood, like flowers at their most beautiful, are literally hidden away in an attic where no one will ever see them.

The children were locked in an attic room and missed being able to go outside. So they created a "virtual" garden by making paper cut-outs of flowers which they used to decorate the attic walls. However the title is meant to be more metaphorical, referring to the children themselves rather than the paper flowers.
