when i got my computer just five years ago, i tried these chat rooms and stuff, one of my memorable misunderstandings was , lol, i thought it was short for laurence, and i thought to myself, this boy/man must be really popular cos everyone spoke to him. any one else have funny memories like this?

i have only recently found out what certain things mean thanks to my grandson for example rofl, pmsl, lol and i only recently found out how to do smile faces :)

I thought for years that people on the internet were being very friendly in sending me Lots Of Love when they typed LOL. I got a bit bothered as those sending me a lot of LOL's were all females. On hindsight, I probably lost a lot of friends due to my ignorance at that time.
