Yorkshire men

Is it true that the saying 'Yorkshire man born and bred, strong in t'arm, thick in t'head' is specific to Yorkshire, or is it used in relation to other counties as well - as I heard it related to Dorset recently?

Gareth, I'm not sure this helps - but I heard it as 'Somerset-born..'! Perhaps it's the old North-South divide again?

As a townee, I've often heard it quoted, and used it myself, as - "Country born, country bred etc"

Other nicknames are Devonshire Dumplings and Wiltshire Moonrakers. Not sure about the first, but the latter comes from the legend that a Wiltshireman was found trying to pull the moon's reflection from a stream with a rake.
