Have completed all of the grids on this puzzle but am not 100% sure of the answer

One of these words is different from the rest - Which one ?

Gerbil; Mouse; Beaver; Horse; Rabbit; Tiger; Zebra; Monkey; Llama; Badger; Sheep; Cattle; Stoat and Donkey.

Anyone have any ideas ?

The only one whose singular form is a longer word than the plural.

Thanks - didn't think of that. The only thing is as its Take a Break magazine that would seem to be quite a 'deep' answer for what are normally fairly straightforward puzzles.

Yes I think it may be Tiger as it's the only cat

But a monkey is the only monkey so I can't see it being that.

What about Cattle because that's the only plural animal?

Cattle and Sheep are both plural, and there are many breeds of sheep, just as with cattle. However, as Barry rightly points out, a 'cattle' is not an animal.

Are you talking about 'Now for something different' in Issue 39? The odd word out is Kettle, the only one which isn't an animal. The K comes from Derek in clue 12 and the E from brave in clue 8
