Proof that Labour's health & safety, nanny state has finally gone raving mad. What next smaller tea-spoons to cut down on the amount of sugar in our tea.
Quotes:-
'We believe the cost to be a small price to pay for potentially saving lives.'
A spokesman said: 'Heart disease costs taxpayers 7billion a year so to say that projects such as this are a waste of money is mind-boggling.'
Why not just cut the number of fast food outlets, that are springing up everwhere at an alarming rate?
Or do the usual Labour thing, and slap a tax on salt.

This will not reduce the amount used. I agree, things are going too far. Council's have to find a way to use up their quota so that they will be given the same amount next year. Barnsley Council recently took up all the pavements outside my Dad's house and replaced them. It was totally unnecessary. There is a road nearby which desperately needs resurfacing, but that would cost too much, so it is left in an appalling state.
One of the things I most admire about the Mail is its ability to provide the reader with the most up to date news.
Update - October 07
As far as Gateshead is concerned our input to this project is now completed but we have learned a lot form it.
So, exiting stuff, a project Gateshead had about helping fast food outlets cut down salt in OCT 07! Goodness the Council spending the people of Gateshead tax payers money on health care and harm prevention for the people of Gateshead- whatever next?
Is there nothing better for the journalists to be reporting on, or this the expected standard of DM news?
