Yet another month has sped by on life's roller coaster. Tomorrow I will have finished removing the Artex from the ceiling and can start the process of renovation beginning with papering the ceiling ~ That's always worth a laugh or two!

This evening, Mrs Crofter (aka Valerie) is having a Girl's Night out starting with a slap-up meal followed by drinkies. No doubt it will end up like last time when the Cuckoo Clock took the blame (see below!)

Tomorrow morning brings the start of Round 4 in the Reign of King Wickedtongue and (I hope) a challenging set of words to get the grey matter moving. Once again I think the points will flow readily as the Dawn Patrol take up the challenge with great gusto when the MM Links Game opens at 08.45 and the chosen words to be linked declared at 09.00 tomorrow morning. If you are an early riser, you may like to also chance your arm with the sister game (called KM Links) which will be nearly two hours old by the MM launch time! These games are kept open for a couple of days to register your predictions.

Me? I'm crofter keeper of the scores for MM Links! Who will claim the coveted prize as Links Champion for September 2008? Why don't you tune in and find out!

Good Luck to you all!

The last time Valerie had a Girls Night Out, she promised that she would be back by midnight. Well, the hours passed, and the margaritas must have gone down way too easy. Around 3:00am, a bit loaded, she headed for the Croft. Just as she got in the door, the cuckoo clock in the hall started cuckooing 3 times.

Quickly, realising that I would probably wake up, she cuckooed another 9 times. She must have been really proud of herself for coming up with such a quick-witted solution, in order to escape possible marital conflict in the morning. (Even when smashed she knows 3 cuckoos plus 9 cuckoos equals 12 cuckoos which equals MIDNIGHT!)

The next morning, I asked her what time she got in, and she said midnight." I kept my cool and she probably thought that she had away with it!

I then told her that we need a new cuckoo clock! When asked why, I simply said "Well last night our clock cuckooed 3 times, then said "oh ****," cuckooed 4 more times, cleared its throat, cuckooed another 3 times, giggled, cuckooed 2 more times, and then tripped over the coffee table and farted."
Is the singer any relation, crofter?

crofter, you are a rat telling that story.....what happens in your hallway at 3 am stays in your hallway at 3am
when you have finished your decorarting please come and give Steve a hand, we are emulsioning the walls next week
laying laminate flooring also new carpet at one end of the room
hope it looks ok when we have finished
ladyalex, considering the last word in crofter's anecdote, it probably did and was still there at breakfast time!
Well it's good to see this thread has started on a refined note!!!
Poor Valerie.....being given a curfew by the Crofter!!!???

Fear not though Ladies....at the BBQ in the summer we met the said 'Lady'...and she is well able to handle Crofter!! :-))

I think she was clever...but should have cuckooed 13 times to confuse him totally!

Anyway ... it was probably the cuckoo that **rted!!
agree pauline, after all us laydees don't do that do we?
At least Crofter has plent to keep him occupied this time with the decorating, he won't need to wait up he will or should be shattered if he puts his effort into the walls.
He could then make a start on the shrubbery walls,
I am sure a lick of paint will improve the chance of us selling if the credit crunch bites
If the credit crunch does bite Jan...we'll all be moving into the shrubbery full time!

Men never part with their wind do they??...Hmmm!
Actually, young Pauline, us chaps don't mind a bit of "handling".

That's quite enough wind jokes.

thats great Ladyalex my grandaughter loves the story of the enourmous one
Strix...you're terrible!! :-))

Very good Jan....why do men always laugh when they part company with their gas?....either end!!

have you noticed crofter opens up then disappears, we should drag him kicking and screaming back into the shrubbery
after all he started it not us!!!!
They are trying to disguise the noise.....prior to blaming it all on someone else
Jan, not just in song but also in rhyme (if limericks qualify as such):

There was a young girl of La Plata
Who was widely renowned as a f*rta
Her deafening reports
At the Argentine sports
Made her much in demand as a starta.
I was just thinking that Jan....

Ladyalex...see how quickly the shrubbery drags one down!!! :-))

I have never eaten a turnip....honestly!
Bet you've had a swede, though.....
