Was not that antique roadshow and the million quid item a damp squib A small edition of the angel of theNorth brought in by some councillor brilliant .Wonder what next the 2 million item some one from London brings in a model of Wembley .What did the guy base this figure on? .
i , too felt rather cheated at the build up of the first item on the roadshow to be valued at 1 million -what a let down. also it was hardly an antique was it ?
Was the BBC playing games and trying to get more people to watch this show . I though the painting of the guy on the horse was going to be it or the chest or russian pearls but no twas the angel of he north brilliant BBC would neve have guesed that !!!
lol weecalf, damp squib was exactly the same phrase that I used too! I daresay most people were waiting in hopes that it was going to be something they also had in their attics....
...erm yes, we've all got one of those. :o)
As I understood it, it wasn't just a smaller version, it was the template that the giant one was modeled on. This of course would make it unique, which is where the value comes in.
I was really disappointed with the big momentous valuation! I kept waiting for every item to be 1m and then the big letdown! Wouldn't it just have been great for some of the other items Faberge brooch etc to be valued at 1m! Biggest letdown of all times!! Shame on the BBC and Antiques Roadshow!
