I am grandma to my two grandchildren,my mum gets called nan by all her grandchildren and I didn't want to also be known by a name/term associated with a woman I loathe.
I havent any grandchildren as yet but i always wanted to be called nanna ...now i want to be called grandma . could you be called nan claire or whatever your 1st name is and the same with your sons girlfreinds mum?
I haven't any grandchildren from my own children - but do have a step-granddaughter from my eldest stepson. To all intents & purpoes therefore she is a granddaughter. (Even though I'm not with her grandad anymore,,, but that's by the by & far too complicated so...)

She calls me Nanny T..... (my name). She also has 3 other nannies - Nanny Sharon, Nanny Sally) and Nanny Pauline. I think it's sweet; if a tad confusing !

Why don't they call you Gramps???
Oh Gawd Logic - I absolutely hate that bl00dy song and that bl00dy girl. I remember that song coming out & cringing. Horrid horrid horrid.

I wonder what she grew up like??!! What a vision that is...

Growing Up, i had two Nan's a Pappy and a Grandad.

My Nephews have a Grandma (their Mums Nan) a Nan, and my Mum is Granny Sue - This is because my Sister in Law had a son from a previous relationship, so when she and my brother go together, my mum was Sue, when my brother had a baby, they added the granny bit and it kinda of stuck. - I am sure you all wanted to know that, but there we go!
... about as complicated as my story Hopey !!

Extended families/broken families/step families - doesn't it make it all so complicated?

Kids though - love 'em all.
The Boss. Ha ha no I would like nanna that my nephew calls my mum as she reckons grandma is just too old sounding, the as he gets older I guess it will turn to nan
I am lucky to still have a set of Grandparents alive.

Although my Grandad is in hospital with a broken thigh and my Nan is away with the fairies......
my son calls my mum nanny grumps lol
My nephew had a nannie Barney (my mum and our German Shepherd Dog) and a nannie Cassie (his dad's mum and her American Cocker Spaniel).

I only had a grandma and grandad.
I had a Nanna Woodie - the best dudette in the world & if I am like her when I'm a real oldie, I shall be most satisfied.

She used to drink whiskey through a straw (made her get drunker quicker & therefore more cheaply), still eyed up the fellas in the nursing home at 80, was always game for a laugh, smoked with a drink (though never got the hang of inhaling) - & was generally a good all-round gel. My kids adored her - as did I.
my kids refer to their nan's as Nanna Helen and Nanna Doreen and all my nan's, and all three of mine were/are granny and all Grandads have been called Grandad, and I dont see why you cant both be nan. Children will find a way of distinguishing between the two.
I'm not sure went on me answer there, I don't think watching Spongebob while answering is the best plan in future. I'm a knucklehead spazzatron apparently.
I'm 'Nanny B' & the other one nan is 'Nanny D'.

It's always worked very well....
My mum (bless her) was known, to her grandkids, as mama (pronounced momar). I have a step grandson (I know, I don't look old enough) he refers to me as nanan, I quite like that.
