Arks ... as in Noah ?
or ass instead of ar5e.
Ass is american, we should stick to the good old British Ar5e.
Up The Ar5e I say....
LOL @ JJ and Salla....you are so fun
it would have been funnier if I could have put arse.
Bu55er - I could have done!!
ooops! At least now we know!
salla...you have got it wrong....."Ass" in American is nothing to do with the rectal region, it means .....a Woman.

Fathers tell their sons in America...." Get yourself a piece of ass, son."
Salla ... you can type "arse" because it is simply a word used to describe a person for whom you have a low regard.

eg ...

"Posting a thread having a dig at people's pronunciation, but mis-spelling the critical word, suggests that Mariner2 is ...

... a bit of an arse."

(that's just an example, you understand)
Isn't it also a mule / donkey - type thingy?

JJ - you have enlightened me. So he means who do some people say arsk, barth, grarse instead of ask, bath, grass? It's a regional thing - innit?
why , not who - I'm as bad.
'Aint I?
Question Author
joggerjayne, what did I mis-spell?
I often notice that on EastEnders, mariner2. Chelsea always says "arks"
Mariner ...

You typed ... a r k s

I presumed you had meant to type ... a r s k

No ?
I think it's a nothern thing!

It's the way they talk.
But if you meant ...

Why do people say "a r s k" ?

Then the answer is ...

That is the proper way to say the word ...

... here in Sussex (where we do like to do things properly).

After all, we are just on the doorstep of "Hove Actually"
dont arks mes cos i no no naffinnk

annit?
However ...

If some people do indeed say "arks"

And Mariner2 did not have a typo in his post ...

... then it is me who is "a bit of an arse"

=0(

(you see how it works?)
Question Author
No, you've got the wrong end of the stick - this is not a north-south bath/barth thing!
I mean I keep hearing people say "arks" when they mean ask.
There was a team from Brighton on Eggheads t'other day. Did you see it JJ? They'd got more mince that a butchers window:-)
Aah, I see ...

Then, Mariner2, it is me who is "the arse"

But hey ... there are worse things to be called.
