theres a girl in my class whose predicted a*'s in every subjects and so far on all her tests and courseworks she's got a*s. but she only wants to be a primary school teacher.
don't you think that someone of that intelligence should aim higher in life?
i am predicted a s and a couple of bs and i want to be a marine biologist/oceanographer and my teachers say that theres nothing stopping me and that i could quite easily be one. so why has she got suchlow asperations for life?

But, why do you say 'she only wants to be a primary school teacher'?
When you grow up a bit you may gain a little humility and perhaps tolerance.
With a bit of luck she will spend many years in the career she chooses now; to be happy in her work will be so important after spending perhaps 30 years in the job.

low aspirations
got suchlow asperations
I'm guessing A's B's and a D in English?
I'm not being picky just think that you set yourself up for a fall by being picky yourself.
Learn to spell better before you get quite so condescending towards others who are apparently working hard and have decided what they want to do.

i decided that i wanted to be a marine biologist/ oceanographer years ago.
well it started because i decided that i wanted to do something which envolved geography, the ocean, scuba diving in the ocean, the animals in the water and somewhere nice and warm.
plus all our teachers think that she should aim higher aswell. at parents evening most of our times were about the same so i heard what they said about her. they were saying hw excelent she was. then asked what she wanted to be when she was older. she said primary school teacher and they said that she could be anything she wanted to be but if thats what she truely wanted theres nothing wrong with it.
i don't think theres anything wrong with it and she'll probably end up being a headmistress but she could aim so much higher in life.

"There's a girl in my class who just won't stop interfering with my life and decisions - not only that, she then goes online and invites total strangers to comment on MY decisions about MY life! She even followed me around at parents evening eavesdropping on my conversations with staff, and runs tales about what other teachers are meant to think about me and my choices."
My dear Nix, can I suggest you just go and do what it takes to become a marine biologist , and keep your beak out of other people's affairs?
If this is too much to ask, then please go and research what exactly it takes to become a teacher, before you decide it is a low aspiration.
Is spelling on your list of aspirations or as a high-flying marine biologist, will you simply wave your tentacles to communicate?
The last laugh may belong to the one who has the paying job. Go to any number of job websites and count up the adverts for teachers versus the adverts for marine biologists.

Good grief. Don't you understand basic punctuation, grammar and spelling?
If you are so clever as you think you are, your posts should be a lot more legible.
Capital letters at the start of sentences and for I. Apostrophe in 'there's nothing stopping me...'
If your fellow pupil is bright enough to teach primary school children these very basic rules of English, she is doing a more worthwhile job than a marine biologist.

I did well at school and I am training to be a primary school teacher, I don't feel as if I am aiming too low as teaching children is something that I love. It also requires much more hard work than people think, especially with the government, parents and the rest of society blaming everything that goes wrong on teachers and the education system.
If she wants to work in the primary school in the village I doubt it's because she thinks the children will be easy to work with, no class of children are going to be completely compliant and achieve all that is expected of them all the time.
And just a bit of a rant and I am going to sound very angry at you because how dare you label someones aspirations as 'low', even if she wanted to work as a shop assistant straight after leaving school you would have no right to do so! Teaching is such a wonderful profession and one that requires much more intelligence than you obviously think it needs. I hope this girl isn't put off by people labelling her dreams in such a negative way.
