What is the meaning of 'waifish' in the following sentence?

Unlike the waifish, cookie-cutter blondes that adorned Harvard dorm room walls, this woman was healthy with an unembellished beauty and genuineness that radiated a striking personal confidence.

A 'waif' is basically a neglected or parentless child. Because he/she is not being fed properly, he/she will probably be thin. Most young women who take up modelling and photographic work are also extremely thin - deliberately, rather than because of starvation - in comparison with the average woman and so they can be described as 'waifish'...ie like a waif. The woman in the picture you refer to is not like that.
