Good Afternoon

Is an example of a greeting which is relative to the time of day in which the greeting is made.

Do you generally greet with an awareness of the time of day or do you apply a more generic greeting? "Hello" for example.

I find I always say "See You Later" - even when I won't.

Your turn.

morning pieface, which upsets some people :-)
I tend to say Hi in emails, and Hallo! to people I meet - the Good whatevers are reserved for work/meetings.

..and yes, I tend to say "see you later" whether or not it's accurate.

When I lived in Birmingham I picked up "Tara a bit" as a parting statement, but nobody else says that down here, so I stopped!
"Hi" for hello.
"Bye" for goodbye. I do say "morning" to shop assistants serving me if morning time but never "afternoon" if it's afternoon. I just say "Hi".
Depends who I'm talking to, and in what language...
I tend to just say hello
