Hanging under wear on the washing line?

Where I hang my washing out to dry other people can see it from their house, there's even a partial view from a road. I am always unsure whether to hang my thongs up in full view? I usually try and hide them.....what are other peoples views???

I take it your washing line is one long straight string? We have a rotary line now so i always put my undies in the middle so they're hidden behind the other clothes. If that's not an option i guess you could just dry them on a radiator? We've had a spate of underwear thefts in my area so i do think hiding them is a good idea, and my really expensive stuff doesn't go out on the line at all. plus i see my neighbours all the time and i don't like the thought of them seeing my unmentionables! I'm glad I'm not the only person who thinks like this actually. my OH doesn't see what all the fuss is about!

Get one of those rotary types with several bars and put items you are shy about in the middle where nobody can see them.

I wouldn't care what line they were put on...

I tend to hang 3 or 4 pairs together from one peg.

i use an airer. Put underwear on that

When I first started working (as a secondary teacher) I lived right next door to the school, so underwear was dried inside.

I don't have the place for a rotary, I have a balcony with sea views/breeze, its a tiled floor out there, and I have 3 indoor airers I put the clothes on, then I can rush them in when it rains. But yes I hide them on the airers but of course they don't dry as well

It's a matter of personal self consciousness IMO - if you don't people to see your grunts drying out, bung em on the radiator !

I always use the tumble dryer :) My ex inlaws' next door neighbour used to hang very large (stained) bloomers out for all to see though...

Be bold, what..the. You have a right to wear what you like and if the neighbours don't like it, so what? Hang out your thongs and be blowed to what other people think. That is, of course unless there is someone pinching underwear off the lines - it has been known to happen.
