A while ago I had a fall at work. I fell on a designated walkway that is the usual zebra painted pathway with yellow stripes at each side, however the walkway had been extended to make it maybe 4 or 5 inches wider and no yellow stripe down the extended side. The extended bit wasn’t painted with antislip paint like the rest of the walkway and as a result I went flying.
I immediately reported the accident and the team leader filled in both the book and on computer stating I had hurt my knee (which was bruised) and also had bent my wrist back saving myself which resulted in my entire arm up to my shoulder hurting. The next day I realised the bottom of my back was sore and seizing and my shoulder was a bit painful so I told my team leader as soon as I got on shift. I worked for a couple of weeks being really careful not to make my back worse. It was seizing up when I bent over and my job involves a lot of it. Then we had Christmas hols and the seizing and discomfort seemed to ease off.
When I went back to work it was back to square one. I again told my team leader and asked should I see the company doc with it happening at work or my own doc (at this point I hadn’t been to my own doctor, mainly as I just kept thinking it would go by itself as although it was annoying and painful I didn’t think they could really do anything except give me painkillers which I was already taking)

Maybe a week later I approached my manager asking if I could possibly go part time for a while until my back was back to normal as it was 6 weeks since the fall and it was still giving me gip. I was told there were no part time jobs. Around the same time I again told my team leader my back was sore from the fall.
Then a few days later even though I was being so careful I sneezed and it really put my back out, resulting in me having to go home and I was on sick for about a month.
I self certed and ticked the accident box and got hauled in for an interview (interrogation it seemed like) where my manager said there was no record of me telling anyone I had hurt it during the fall.
Jump to a month later…..I have had meeting after meeting where both my team leader and manager deny me telling them I had hurt my back when I fell. They are saying I just told them my back was hurting.
After the last meeting I realised I couldn’t prove that I had told them (they both lied through their teeth in front of me and the HR woman present) and my manager asked if I was happy to put closure on the ‘problem’ I couldn’t see anything I could do as I couldn’t prove it so I told them I wasn’t happy but with lack of proof I could see no option but to put closure on it. Today I have been pulled in the office again and this time given a date for a disciplinary hearing for not reporting an injury caused by an accident. To say I am gobsmacked is an understatement. I am also really upset by this. I told my team leader time and time again and also my manager. Both are lying saying I didn’t inform them and now Im being disciplined for apparently not informing of the injury. I really have no idea what to do..please help :(

afterthought..... i had a meeting with my manager and h and s manager about a week into my sick leave and discussed me hurting my back when i fell...... and also about 3 weeks into my sick leave when i had a meeting with the occupational health doctor...... they are saying this is the first time it was mentioned. i just read the statements and all of them are saying my injury probably wasnt caused by the fall..... so how the hell can they deny its been caused by the fall yet still tell me im being disciplined for 'not informing' anyone
