Grid fill is proceding quite quickly and smoothly, especially when compared to last week.
However, I know that this will rapidly slow down as I know nothing about either the two adversaries or the title. More reading required.

Done and dusted before the next one is in the shop. Found out the first adversary and so worked out the other one, even though I don't remember reading the relevant text until I was sorting out the final stages. Not keen on 3 letters in one square - m handwriting can't cope. I must be improving at the final stages to have done this so quickly. Now I can get ready for 4142. Enjoyed all your points after I had made it through, not worried by rules so long as we remember that they are there to be ignored! but really pleased to read from CJ again and that Mrs Z is improving - sorry that sounds wrong - I mean her health

Initially, I sympathised with the view that access to the keys to this puzzle's denoument was too reliant on the web. However, web access is so widespread now that I don't think that that objection is valid. As others have pointed out, what bookshop, or indeed how many libraries, stock the required material?
The Listener Setters' notes, btw, are available to all to see on the Listener website. Even if they weren't, however, that wouldn't make the issue invalid, surely!
I suspect we may see a revision at some point, while retaining caveats about obscurity, arcane and transient/popular themes etc.
