welsh rugby union player

I am trying to find the name of a former Welsh rugby union player for a crossword clue. His nickname is "The King", but there is nothing on the internet about anyone that fits that description. I have J*H*, so his name could be Jehu, but I can't find his first name or when he played for Wales. On the internet there is a Jason Jehu listed in a Welsh team, but nothing else. How can someone be called a name like "The King" and have nothing about him on the internet?

Thanks ABerrant and fbg40. It was interesting to read about Barry John who was a fly half, an international rugby player from the 1960s and 70s. He should have been easy to find on the internet using the search engines, but the opposite was the case.

Barry John! Saw him play for Wales whilst I was at Cardiff University.

I don't think Barry has ever forgiven himself for retiring when he did - at 26, at the height of his powers. He was such a hero to the Welsh people that, when he walked into a bank to pay a cheque in, the queue parted and the girl behind the counter curtsied. Barry was so freaked by this level of hero-worship that he quit rugby. It says a lot about his status as an international great that he only actually played 25 matches for Wales. Sadly he befriended George Best and went down a similar path.

It is probably Barry John who was in the triple crown team with Gareth Edwards and Phil Bennett.

The answer is of course John as in Barry John, who was one of the great triple crown players alongside Gareth Edwards and Phil Bennet as well J P R Williams and J J Williams, to name but a few.
