Blackpool, this July.

Need a room, for one, in Blackpool for 18 - 23 July. Anyone stayed in a good hotel or b and b there, in Summer, which they would recommend? A quick search of hotel sites doesn't help much, apart from telling me that surviving hotels in Victorian piles aren't much kop.

The streets just behind the tower are 90% B&Bs . I have been many times but just walk down the road and go into a few and ask to look at the rooms. If the rooms are clean and the beds decent that is fine by me. You basically just want some where to sleep and an edible breakfast. Even 2 years ago you could get B&B for £25 a night and it was perfectly acceptable. Owners and staff change so frequently that a good one last year could be the pits today.

All these are rated in the top rank by the Blackpool tourist authority.

There are others with rates as low as £19 a night with breakfast.

A fair choice listed here for those dates (I entered 6 nights) you can fine tune it.

OK. jack, what do you know of the Fylde International ("international"!) in Palatine Road ? It's just one in one of the links above. Where is Palatine Road for a start? Is it miles out from the centre, not that that matters very much? It sounds a bit full of itself on its site and it's £51 a night. Just getting an idea of what's available.
This looks to be a good one, though I am not sure if they charge a single person's supplement. They are quite cheap so would try this one if I were you:

Palatine Road runs between Central Drive and Whitegate Drive. Central Drive is closer to the Prom but I'm afraid I don't know anything about the hotel you mention.
Blackpool is arranged North to South along the coast and does not extend a huge way Eastwards. Do you want to do beach/tower/pleasure beach etc.because it would be more important to situate you properly N to S than E to W.....

jack, none of the areas or attractions you name are of particular interest to me, in themselves. I will be in Blackpool because it is convenient for Lytham. I am going to the Open Golf Championships there. That occupies the whole day, every day, from the Thursday, 19th, to the Sunday, 22nd. By the time I get back I may be in time to take in a show, but that's all of Blackpool I'll be seeing.
I'm surprised that nobody has suggested looking at TripAdvisor.
Here are all Blackpool hotels, ranked in order of their 'srtar ratings' from people who've stayed there:

Note that there's a button near the top of the page to switch the listing to show B&Bs. There are also filters by price, etc, in the left hand panel.

In that case stay south of the town near the Pleasure Beach or airport. That way you can catch a train and a shuttle bus to the course to save time queuing in traffic each day.
This any good?

We went to the Open at L St A a few years ago and had a wonderful time. (But stayed on the moors and drove in) Fabulous course and well organised. I wish you a very enjoyable time.
