This is something I remember as a kid catching the end of but I remember it looking like a lot of fun. I remember it being a musical - quite old but filmed in Technicolor to great effect. I remember something about an youth serum that turned the menfolk of this backwater country bumpkin town to strapping young he-men but they were so pretty they wouldn't go for the womenfolk any more. There was a song that went something like 'Put 'em back the way they was'. Can anyone help with this?

I think the film your thinking of is "Li'l Abner".  It was made in 1959 by Paramount and based on a cartoon strip by Al Capp.
