Short measures in the pub
10 Answers
How do I go about reporting a pub that is constantly serving short measures. By this I mean a pint with too large an head, I will accept a head on a pint of say 1/4 of an inch, but in this pub it is regularly served with a head of 3/4 of an inch, to an inch. When I and others have asked the bar staff to top it up they have refused and the manager backs them up saying that the pint is OK for the price paid. But it is not a pint whatever the price

Agree with Howard that to report this you would contact Trading Standards who are often found at your County Council Offices, but not always. Look them up here.

This is definately malpractice and is a well known trick used to get more pints from the barrel....if oversized glasses are used they will have a line and probably be inscribed PINT TO LINE.... to allow for the "head.
Not sure what the manager means by "for the price paid" unless they have reduced the price to allow for the short measure....a likely story.
