There is indeed a bar missing, x_word_fan. The grid has 180 degree rotational symmetry, so the third letter of 42dn is unchecked.

Yes, it threw me for a while too. Not that it matters too much but 7d word in clue should be for not fo. Sloppy editing. Can't get 30d yet - I only want 5 letters. Anybody else having trouble with this?

A bit nearer now as I have the group and the last member to join - _ sm to have 2 extra blanks though - middle letter of 24 and 4th of 34??

Almost there, but not yet solved 30a. plus not sure about first letter placement for 30d. In my on-line copy the across clue reads "somewhat informally, more than half OR relatives are (My capitals). Should it be 'or'?

Have the six members, but not yet identified the group - got to recheck my extra letters, and haven't got last one to join. Not tried to find that one yet.

I was wondering why the extra empty square and why it was placed in that postion, then realised that all the empty squares are thematically placed and that the extra fits too. Nice touch

I have a full grid, but no thanks to the puzzle's editors. There are too many errors. A missing bar in 47 Ac, surely an anagram error in 11 Dn, missing S in 5Dn, "or" for "of" in 30 Ac, so that one becomes unsure. Spotting the EV mistakes is becoming an exercise on its own! Can anyone see any more?
