Pliney/pliny
not much befuddles me (except Welsh ancestry) but I've come across a 1st cousin 4 times removed called Pliney/Pliny Shaw, baptised Sowerby Bridge born Greetland. Never seent he name before and so tried to check if it was a surname of a grandparent, came across loads of Pliney christian names in various parishes around Halifax. Where has this name come from? On the 1861 the enumerator has recorded him as Flynn Shaw, but his baptism and 41.51 entry and death entry 1869 is definately Pliney.
