I've been defeated by the EV for a couple of weeks running so it was nice to get back on track this time round. I do like it when a thematic idea is applied to all clues/ answers, especially if there's more than one device going on. Thanks Samuel.

I was beginning to get a bit worried by my lack of ability in last week's EV, but this was an enjoyable solve, so thanks Samuel from me as well.

Encouraged, I had another look at EV 1122, and the light has at long last dawned...
Really enjoyable stuff from Samuel, and great to see a thematic clueing gimmick. This is what the EV is about for me - not too difficult, and a nice implementation of the theme. A welcome respite from the difficulties of last week's (very difficult but very enjoyable) Dysart and the dross of the previous week's Kruger. I was unsure about the definition at 34ac, but closer inspection of Chambers confirms that it is correct.
I hesitate to even dare to post as I am finding the clues quite difficult, have got the theme and am ploughing on with finding the rest of the instructions, am also running 1123 in line with 1122 and still hoping to get a PDM on that one. Clever Cloggsis all.......
Have managed to escape from scripts, admin, dealing with queries etc and to complete the grid. Am still not sure what needs highlighting though unless it is a character from the thematic work. A ( not so ) gentle hint would be appreciated.
Now sorted.
Trailing behind as seems usual lately. Like Devadolly, trying to do 1122 and 1123 in tandem (in between showing the house to prospective purchasers, without much success).
Have now completed 1123 - thanks Samuel - and returning to 1122 with renewed vigour.
