It is after all difficult for any criminal to get work so I guess he's going to struggle.

tricky one, isn't it. He's not failing to show remorse, he's still denying it ever happened. A jury decided otherwise, but he thinks he knows better than the jury.
this is unlikely to be resolved until the criminal case review is concluded and the matter is either referred to the court of appeal as a miscarriage of justice - or not.

if it is, his conviction may well be quashed, then the clubs can fall over themselves to sign him. if it isn't he may well have to be remorseful before he gets signed again.
well he was there.....whether or not its true, he's risking his career on it. If he had shown remorse and all the rest of it, he would at least be back training by now.
There seems to be a campaign to punish this man beyond his judicial sentence. I could see a justification for denying him a job if he was working daily with young women, but professional football is a very male dominated profession. It seems entirely wrong to render him unemployable after he has served his sentence.

I expect eventually, a club will employ him.
It's the work of the man-hating lezzers, danny.
//There seems to be a campaign to punish this man beyond his judicial sentence. //

his supporters keep "outing" his victim in flagrant contempt of court; whilst no doubt he's had no hand in that, he's never discouraged his supporters.
^gromit, sorry.

At the moment his status is that of Convicted Rapist.
//professional football is a very male dominated profession.//
It is also a Profession where a lot of young women are attracted to the players, we need to be sure they're safe.
I agree with Gromit
I would prefer the title to read "Will this bloke ever PLAY for a football club again" Our politicos tell us that there are plenty of WORK opportunities out there for a an honest days WORK!!!!
RetroCop he would be hard - pressed to get any job, even flipping burgers with a criminal record for rape.
He is unlikely to be a danger to young women while he is training or playing football. He may be a danger in his leisure time, but that would be the case no matter what job he does.
// A jury decided otherwise, but he thinks he knows better than the jury. //

He does know better than the jury. He was there when the events occurred, and the jury weren't. Unfortunately for him though, they decided he was lying.
I can't see why any football club would want him. After all, Britain is awash with people who can play football, so why would they want to employ a person with criminal record, especially one for rape ?

I have no doubt he will work again but perhaps as a plumber, brickie, sparks, etc.
Well, Well ,Well. There's a new years revelation! I actually wholeheartedly agree with what mikey has just written.
Should have kept it to himself..... end of discussion
Yes it's all a bit worrying, retro. Mikey and I found ourselves in total agreement once or twice last year. :-)

It's not just a case of the danger he poses to women, Gromit. Another aspect that needs to be considered is that professional footballers exert a huge influence over the young fans who follow them. These youngsters may well feel it is acceptable to behave as Evans did with obvious consequences. Pro sportsmen convicted of offences such as this are not in the same boat as factory workers or office workers. They are in the public eye and they influence the behaviour of their fans. They need to understand and accept that and those additional responsibilities they face are among the reasons they receive the amount of money they do.

Unless Mr Evans’s conviction is overturned he will find it extremely hard to get a club in the UK to take him on and he may do better to prepare himself for alternative employment.
NJ :+)
// I have no doubt he will work again but perhaps as a plumber //

Yep, going into young womens' homes when they are alone. That would work.
Retro and NJ...agreeing with me isn't some kind of sin that you should feel the need to keep quiet about, like wife beating ! I try to be logical and rational everytime I post, although I may not always succeed.

I look forward to many more times in 2015 when we three should meet again. In thunder, lightning, or in rain perhaps !
