How can I get any replies to clues already given.

up in the search box, if it's been asked here, you will get a list of threads with the questions and any answers already posted

Click on your username, this will bring up a list of questions you have asked, select the one(s) you want

And go in My Profile and edit it to tick the box saying you want to subscribe to your own questions

Of course, this presumes that previous questioners have provided a proper title and not headed their question "Help please", "last one" or some other equally useless title.
