Ms O'Neill has clearly done very well for herself and whether or not you agree with her brand of politics she has the chance to make her stamp on a higher footing. It's a fraught time in NI politics at the moment following the fracture of the Assembly but it's a temporary setback. Any thoughts, however, of a return to the bad old days would be sensationali sm. I can't say I have ever heard of her Ichy, but in the bear garden that is NI politics, perhaps having two ladies in the top positions might make a difference.
It would be very sad if this daft business of the debacle of the "Renewable Heat Incentive" were to spoil all the good work that has been done since the Good Friday agreement.

I am reminded of the time when I met Mow Mowlem, in a Chinese Restaurant, up in Town one evening in the 90's. I fell into conversation with her and her husband and I asked her to confirm a wonderful story that I had heard, of her time as NI Secretary.
Apparently, she had a habit of throwing her wig into a corner of the meeting room, when the attendees were getting too partisan and "difficult"
She then used a rude word to the Reverend Paisley, a word that had probably never been said to his face and certainly never by a bald woman !
She happily confirmed the story and also confirmed the word, which I am forbidden from using here on AB !

Yes a friend of mine who works in the NICS told me stories of Mo depositing her wig in the middle of tense meetings in order to lighten the atmosphere :-)
A one-off
I hope that the DUP and Sinn Fein are consigned to the opposition at these elections, but in the likely event that they are not, I wonder if Arlene and Michelle will be the "Simper Sisters"
(I'd say unlikely).
Of all the things to cause the downfall of the Executive, "Renewable Heat" is surely one of the most ironic. If they stuck the Shinners and the DUP in a room together for a few hours each day you'd have renewable heat/hot air for as long as you wanted.

I'm not sure why you think a politician should change to suit you. Surely then you will be posting no ed of threads on you other favorite 'U-Turns' !
I wont agree with many things this lady says or does but providing the World turns round without any more violence I shall be happy, I wont protest on the street, attempt to use the law to get my way or whine continually. Promise.

Like Trump, give her a chance and judge her later.
