Question Author
where as I am a fan of their beer kromo, I'd not want to be a Belgian.
Depends on which part of Belgium I get to live in.
If it was the right part and i could find work - yes I would.
Belgian citizenship eh ? So they've given up claiming there's such a thing as EU citizenship ?
Ask the French what they think of the Belgians. They are the butt of Irish-style jokes.
Coz the french are highly thought of from the Belgians Jack!
The article refers to the situation that will apply after next March.
No a problem really as it would only mean a person having dual nationality.
I think ‘being an EU citizen’ means being a citizen of an EU country, which these people won’t be after Brexit. So sounds like a possible solution

For the benefit of those who have not read the Link

//Article 49 of the EU staff rules states that "an official may be required to resign" if he or she loses their EU citizenship and is no longer a national of an EU member state//
Belgium is an artificial state created in 1830 to act as a buffer between France and Holland. The southern half is French-speaking, the northern half Dutch-speaking, and they don't like each other.

Duel nationality after brexit, why not .?
Worked in Bruxelles and Braine-l'Alleud for a few years.

It's an odd place, generally folk are nice enough but the French and Dutch speakers do hate each other. There are even areas where the French can't buy property and where if you speak French you will be ignored (English is fine the Dutch speakers all seem to speak it fluently). Unions and tax are a big problem there though.

This story though is just about the Brits who work for the EU. Quite rightly after we leave they will become a foreigner and cannot therefore work for the EU, hence Junkers request to make them Belgium.

Rather smacks that the EU has not planned that it could loose a load of its workforce!!
