Also I know 2d could be COOK - but the clue 'Prepare doctor' is baffling me. Prepare for cook maybe but what's the doctor connection?

Wow - got there in the end
Yep if I have TENNER instead of RENNET then my original REECHOED looks good.
And OK COOK looks good althogh just didn't see connection to doctoring or cooking the books
