Transport Police Ban Poppies From Cars...
Not sure if we've done this one? So, you can have a Rainbow car but not one with a poppy. Tsk, what a world we're living in.

If the money was coming from a fund whoever orders the poppies must know where they’re ordering them and consequently where the money is ending up. It’s daft to say otherwise. Political correctness under wraps I reckon. A cowardly excuse.

It's nothing to do with dogma.
It's nothign to do with political correctness.
It doesn't mean that the BTP are disrespecting ex servicemen, as is borne out by them being able to wear them on their uniforms.
As is stated in the article:
'"Because of concerns regarding where the money for these stickers was ending up, we took the decision not to place these poppy stickers on BTP vehicles......."
It's 'tabloid' posts such as this that are bringing this site down. If people would just stop and think (or read the whole article) the 'Gammon' factor on here might be reduced.

I wonder what BTP boss would say if crew members bought their windscreen poppies from their local BL branch. Same stance no doubt.
Times change. Most senior officers, both in age as well as rank, served in the last World conflict and Korea. Many served with distinction. They were not the type to run from danger.
How times change.

// Personally, I think they still shouldn't be allowed on windscreens which are for seeing through //
Only the "swept" area of the windscreen needs to be kept clear.
Absolute disgrace, PC gone mad yet again, why am I not surprised?
Remembrance Sunday will be marking the centenary anniversary of the end of the First World War in 1918.
I will as usual be in Whitehall on the Day even if I have to walk there.
Having read the story, the reason given - that funds paid for poppies may not finish in the right hands, seems eminently sensible.
Poppy-wearing is an individual choice.
You cannot have every single car decorated with poppies since some officers may not agree with them, and it is unfair to insist that they drive in a vehicle that suggests that they do agree.
Therefore, individuals can choose to wear a poppy, or not, as they see fit.
That is the sort of freedom of choice that wars were fought for, and its ironic that those who died and whom we remember, may well entirely endorse that choice, and not the wish (ironically!) that one group of individuals feel that everyone should have to remember in a set manner - by wearing a poppy.

Nah, don't think so. It's a matter of public interest. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean others can't discuss it.
FYI. I read the whole story in four or five different papers. Then checked out what BTP and their officers had to say on twitter.
So, you were hopelessly wrong..........again.
