It seems the president thought the estimated deaths were disproportionate and called off the strike. That'll confuse the Trumpaphobes!

No, not really. It's possible to be pleased that he called them off -- although "relieved" is more accurate -- whilst still bemoaning the idea that he was so quick to call for them at all. Not to mention the horror at a guy who flip-flops so much on what is clearly a crucial decision.

And then this is a guy who's boasted that he's "good with words. Know[s] the best words" going on about targeting "three sights". That really is shocking.

I knew you'd find a way to be critical jim!
I didn't want to let you down :)

But seriously. If someone threatened to beat me up in the streets, then decided that maybe it wasn't actually proportionate to me staring at them a bit funny, I wouldn't hail them as some sort of hero. Trump was, by his own admission, about ten minutes away from basically starting a war with Iran. Pulling out from this decision at almost the last minute isn't something to celebrate.

this is more a case of, if someone slapped me in the face, killing him and and all his mates could be seen as a bit OTT. They shot down a drone so no loss of life. I am worried though that the Iranians will take this as carte Blanche to do more.
For a man in his position, his ability to deliver a speech is dreadful, and at time's embarrassing to watch. On par with Ronald Reagan.
No matter what good things Trump does, do you really expect the Left to praise him, his selection as the President of the United States of America has been the biggest kick in the pants for them and that can't be a bad thing.

well he's certainly improved the sales of African peace porridge AOG!
But they would be a right sight after they'd been targeted !
I hate Trump.

I hate him partly for his politics but mainly because he is a terrible human being. He's like a toddler but with less of a vocabulary and no social skills. He is a bully with a massive ego.
Nah. Just proves the silly old fart has a conscience. NMNL.
// No matter what good things Trump does... //

Averting a war because of a decision he made, as a result of a crisis that he started, is manifestly not a "good thing" that Trump has done. He's just stopped himself from doing a terrible thing. That's nothing to garner praise about.
And he's a multi-millionaire! I wonder how he did that? No social skills. Vocubalary less than a toddler. Bully with a massive ego. Mmm. I couldn't care less about Trump, but the Frinton Faction on here do, dont dee? Eh? Eh?
So The Donald tweets that HE stopped the retaliatory attack, bigging himself up as per. Wonder if his military advisers had anything to do with his change of mind?
Actually I believe Trump when he says that he ordered the attack, and then ordered it to be cancelled. It's well within character for him to make a decision on a whim, and then reverse it almost as quickly.
10C, he's faced bankruptcy 4 times. In 1990 his business was £5 billion in the red and only because the banks feared losing shed loads of money was he able to borrow even more from them. The business survived "thanks to a combination bailout/deferment by over 70 banks"!
A very good businessman, but useless politician, don't think he even thought he was going to get elected, but his children are earning a good wage employed as his advisers.
//Pulling out from this decision at almost the last minute isn't something to celebrate. //

Seems Jim would have preferred war.
Don't be so ridiculous ,Naomi. As you well know, I'd have preferred him not to have even ordered the strike be prepared in the first place. That he cancelled it is a matter of relief, not of praise at his benevolence.
Margaret Thatcher won another term in office as result of Falklands war.
He can't have done that bad to emerge from all that and become President of the United States of America. Surely he must have something about him?
