Plastic In Animal Feed

I was horrified watching "Countryfile" on BBC last night. 11th August.
They showed animal feed with bits of plastic wrapper enclosed in the pellets. This was being fed to pigs.
It was queried by the Countryfile presenter at a recycling depot. To my surprise the manager of the depot said it was acceptable for a small amount of plastic to be contained in the food! Approved by Government departments. What have we come to?

Yes- up to 0.15% is allowed.

I suppose it's impossible to achieve 0% but maybe 0.15 is too high.
I recall reading somewhere that similar low percetages are accepted for our food for things like faeceal matter in our food - ugh!

One does not wish to Google what percentages of all sorts of things are allowed in food.

I think best efforts should be made to ensure 0% or as near 0% as possible.

Plastic seems to get everywhere and can't always be seen.
I found some fragments in some compost that I bought recently. Time it was banned IMO.

Plastic is already inside all of us, I don't know if it does us any harm or just goes straight through.
