-any reason within 28 days of positive test, or,
- or covid mentioned on death certificate
- or excess death's
In the long run we may find the figures were slightly overrecorded as we all know of people who would of died within the next few weeks and then got covid in hospital, so covid has just speeded up some deaths.
But it gives a good indicator of the size of the problem.

I agree ellipsis ... am just saying that they may fall. If you look at excess deaths over a 2 year period they may not be 100000 higher. Still bad but a death brought forward by a few months is maybe not as bad as one brought forward something like 30 years. The figures are right but its how we interpret them
In April when the Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington predicted such an outcome, they were called scaremongers.

That's because your default position, Spicerack, is to make things up without evidence. Here is an example:
> Massively over recorded as will be revealed in time. (I'm sure)
What evidence do you have a) that they are over-recorded and b) that they are going to go back and re-record those deaths to remove the mention of Covid? It seems highly improbable.
The thing that makes it seem improbable is the fact that the three different measures in bobbinwales's 09:54 post are roughly in agreement, which is why I mentioned it.

Those prejections were indeed rather good as Gromits old post in sunks links shows .
To be fair tho in the early days it was hard for the man/woman in the street to see what were coming tho and even scientist's werent all saying the same thing's. A just spotted this earlyer thread which shows that the very same Gromit was underplaying the risks early in the pandemic
