Cryptic 1514

Hello after a very long time. I have attempted quite a lot of puzzles and some I was able to do without help. Others I just couldn’t get enough answers to justify asking for your help. Today I have answers to all but one and that one is driving me doolally!
The clue is “ wag from Portland twice as flash?”
A weird thing happened. I was staring at the letters I had but couldn’t think of anything that fitted. Then for no obvious reason I saw that , with all the letters I had,“ two shakes of a lamb’s tail “ fitted. But it has no way that I can see that fits the clue. But I can’t get it out of my head. And that’s why it’s driving me crazy. It’s not the right answer but it’s stopping me getting an answer…
Please let me cheat and tell me what the right is! Please!

I’ve had varying success with the puzzles. . Sometimes I just couldn’t get into the setter’s way of thinking. Must try harder!
A little mystery: it says goodgoalie left a message but it also says a messages has been deleted. What on earth could it have been?

Hi steven. My post was simply a link to an excellent site that has a discussion about each week's Times Jumbo cryptic. I can only guess it was removed because it also gives the solution, with detailed explanation. Try googling 'lucianpoll'

I did google it. I think I understand why the site owners would think you went too far in providing the answer to the entire puzzle. Rather takes the need for some guidance and explanation to an extreme…..
